The MI Open Book Project materials were written by Michigan teachers based off of the Michigan Content Expectations. They were edited by Social Studies specialists around the state, and continue to undergo review by professional organizations. We did not create a curriculum, but rather a tool to be used in conjunction with your existing curriculum. It is our sincere hope that the materials meet your needs.
If however, you believe there is an error or omission that needs to be fixed, the good news is - this isn't your printed textbook! We continue to review the materials and have developed a process for addressing any issues that may creep up:
The process by which the books were developed will be clearly articulated on the MI Open Book Website.
The process by which revisions (this document) will be made will be clearly articulated on the MI Open Book Website.
MI Open Book development, revisions, and review will continue to utilize volunteer stakeholders from regions across the state.
All requests for revisions must be made in writing through use of the online form (currently being developed) The team cannot make revisions submitted in any other format (i.e. via e-mail or telephone)
Revision requests will be reviewed first by the Project Manager. If the request is for a grammatical or spelling error, these changes will be made at most, quarterly. The individual or organization that made the request for revision will be notified via e-mail.
The Project Manager will utilize the results collected in the online form to contact the appropriate editing team, content organization, and/or teacher writers for review. The individual or organization that made the request for revision will be notified via e-mail when this occurs.
If, through review, the team decides that a revision is necessary, it will be corrected in a timely fashion. The individual or organization that made the request for revision will be notified via e-mail.
If, through review, the team decides that a revision is not necessary, the individual or organization that made the request for revision will be notified via e-mail.
To ensure transparency, any major changes made to the texts will be disseminated to the MI Open Book ListServ as the book is assigned a new version number (i.e. Version 1.4 to version 1.5 based on changes made)
